Module Aims

The aim of this module is to provide students with an appreciation of the importance of Operations Management in production and service industries.  It is also intended that students should be able to understand the methods used for planning and management of operations, and to be able to analyse operations using these methods.

Teaching Format

A combination of traditional and action learning methods will be used.  Traditional lectures (two hours per week) will be supplemented with video clips to illustrate operations management in practice.  A wide variety of activities will be used in the workshops, including video discussions, role-play simulations, case study presentations.

Assessment

The module will be assessed by one assignment counting for 50% of the marks, plus a  3-hour examination (counting for 50% of the marks).
